Aruna's place is focused on developing self-esteem, encouraging a love of learning, and enabling successful functioning in a community of children and adults. Our curriculum is based on a belief that children grow and develop at their own pace, and is therefore adapted to the particular needs of each student. The academic program includes reading and writing readiness, number skills, and basic scientific concepts.
We concentrate on nurturing the child's confidence, curiosity, and communication skills and on installing the concepts of self-control, competence, community, and cooperation.
We believe that self-assured, inquisitive children are destined for success.

At Aruna's place, we believe that we have selected the very best people to work with your children.
We select teachers that are self-motivated, well-educated, creative, and dedicated, and our policies are designed to encourage their professional growth and development.
Before hiring staff, we ensure they have met our qualifications as well as those of the Office for Children.

Parents are always encouraged to come for daily activities or special events.
Aruna's place works with the entire family in fostering a supportive atmosphere of acceptance, trust, and mutual respect in which children can discover their own potential.
We believe that when teachers and parents work together, every kid shines.

We offer many enrichment programs to aid in developing multiple intelligence. All classrooms participate in our music program, which uses age-appropriate songs to develop an appreciation for music. Our movement program includes dance and games that help to develop coordination and gross motor skills. The children receive regular instruction from computer specialists. Additionally, a story-teller visits Aruna's place each month to enrich us with puppets and dramatic interpretation.

Aruna's place has a wealth of resources in the community that enables us to provide some unique experiences.
Each fall, we present a haunted house to help the children overcome fear. We have enjoyed building birdhouses with a carpenter, exploring a travelling exhibit from teh New England Aquarium, and wacthing pumpkin-carving demonstrations.
Our visitors have included an elementary school principal and the head of the Fife and Drum Corps.
We have also made field trips to the Butterfly Place, the Sudbury Post Office, the Sudbury Fire Station, Drumlin Farm, and an apple orchard.

"Aruna sees your child as an individual the way you do as a parent, and that is a rarity. Aruna thinks of the community, and for her that community is the school. She thinks of the child, the parent, and the teacher, and that is absolutely unique in today's world."

- Chuck Schwager, parent
|
"She holds high standards for children, but yet she has incredible compassion for children. She is a real teacher... a marvelous teacher."
|
- Judy Rowell, parent & high school teacher
|
"Describing Aruna's Place as acceptable child care is like describing the Mona Lisa as nice art... Calling this 'day care' would do a serious injustice... A more enriching child care provider, find you will not!"

- Fred Boland, parent

"Aruna involves the family as members of the staff. She teaches parents to become advocates for their children. She teaches respect for self, for others, and for differences. My daughter and I are eternally grateful for the experience of Aruna."
